Description as a Tweet:

Country Roads provides traffic and road condition monitoring without the need for GPS enabled phones. Collected data is anonymous, non-invasive, and in real-time, ensuring driver privacy.

Inspiration:

This is a logical extension of a previous Hack-a-Thon project that implements

What it does:

Relays information regarding road safety while ensuring privacy and data security of drivers.

How we built it:

C++, Hive-Map, Arduino,

Technologies we used:

  • HTML/CSS
  • Javascript
  • SQL
  • C/C++/C#
  • Python
  • Flask
  • Arduino
  • Microcontrollers
  • Robotics
  • Other Hardware

Challenges we ran into:

Google-Cloud SQL crashed under minimal load with no good indication as to why. Hardware to communicate with a real vehicle was unable to operate and made worse due to a lack of serial communication to a readout.

Accomplishments we're proud of:

Getting all nodes to communicate with each other in an expandable fashion.

What we've learned:

Google-Cloud SQL is difficult to use.

What's next:

Interface with ECU on several cars and test the operating range for relays and data we can possibly acquire.

Built with:

C++, Ardiuno, Python, Flask, Cloud SQL, App Engine

Prizes we're going for:
